House Pellett – Knysna

The architectural role was to interpret the owner’s vision for the project within the guidelines of the site specific requirements, while developing a spatial language and sequence of spaces for the house within the immediate environment. There was a strong visual and sensory connection between the house and the landscape that was developed, largely achieved by the simple building volumes and the rectilinear terrace on the North-side of the house. Indigenous natural growth was augmented with new planting on the embankments. The courtyard around which the house was designed is a private space designed to be an outdoor room where the beauty of the Outeniqua Mountains to the North can be enjoyed.
